Violin: James Rawes
Great package of violin, bow and case. Beautiful ten year old English violin (by James Rawes, of Carlisle, Cumbria) well looked after by a single owner and in excellent condition. Very reliable, with no 'temper tantrums' or detuning. Clear, consistent sound across all strings, rich but well projected, ideal for a student at college level, semi-professional or enthusiastic amateur. Also very responsive in high positions on lower strings, and a sweet top register with a great deal of sympathetic ringing. A well made instrument that rewards the player. Two piece back of deep medium curl. Varnish of light chestnut brown. Length of back 13 7/8 inches.
The bow is stamped Alfons Riedl, with octagonal pernambuco stick. Ivory frog with silver mounts. In good condition.
The Gordge case is sturdy, a top quality make and in good condition.
